Gifts and Donors
A Vision for the Future

Throughout our history, it would be impossible to fathom where we would have been without significant philanthropy. We treasure, honor, and remain grateful for each of our family legacies and the continuing impact of lasting value they make.”
Past Chair, Southwestern Medical Foundation

Today, nearly 20% of the Foundation’s endowment is the result of planned gifts. This intersection between generosity and vision creates an ever-growing source of support for our most critical initiatives in health care. We continue to see this exponential growth through those generous hearts who invest in tomorrow.

Remembering Dr. Jean Wilson
One of many leaders who not only led incredible progress during his lifetime but whose contributions continue supporting medicine today, was the late Jean Wilson, M.D., an internationally recognized endocrinologist and Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern.
Dr. Wilson left his estate to benefit the Foundation, resulting in an astounding $2 million gift for the Jean D. Wilson Center for Biomedical Research at UT Southwestern.

Honoring a Legacy
In 2023, The Heritage Society will be renamed in honor of the legacy of Dr. Kern Wildenthal. For more than 20 years, Dr. Wildenthal served as UT Southwestern’s President. He then served as President of Southwestern Medical Foundation for another four years. During his tenure, Dr. Wildenthal’s tremendous leadership helped UT Southwestern continue its rise to the pinnacle of medical institutions worldwide.
